The memory fades in on a child’s bedroom, tiny Lapis is curled up under blankets, half-asleep. Her parents walk in, her father reaching down to ruffle her hair.

Man: Hey, [Name-fuzzed]-chan, Mama and I are going now. We have to go to Iwatodai to investigate something.

Tiny Lapis reaches up and takes her dad’s hat from his head.

Lapis: Ok, daddy. ‘s mine today. I want to ‘vestigate too.

Man: [Name fuzzed], give that back, I need...

Woman: No you don’t, darling. Let her have it this once.

Man: fondly. Oh, alright. You have better take care of that, dear. It’s very important.

Lapis: I’ll always take care of it, daddy! I love you both.

Woman: We love you too, little one.

The memory fades out as Lapis falls back asleep.
